Fourteen percent of all work-related fatalities in 2021 were foreign-born Hispanic or Latino workers, and most of them worked in construction. The agency’s reports also “consistently show” that Latino and/or immigrant workers are less likely to report employer health and safety violations.

CNN —It could take weeks for the Port of Baltimore to reopen as an arduous cleanup process to clear the massive wreckage from this week’s catastrophic bridge collapse begins, leaving commuters and workers in limbo and supply chains in disarray, officials said. More than 1,000 engineers in Baltimore and across the country are studying the wreckage piece-by-piece to figure out the best plan to remove it. SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — One of Puerto Rico’s biggest distributors of pharmaceutical drugs was ordered to pay $12 million after being accused of not reporting hundreds of suspicious orders for controlled substances, the U.S. Justice Department said Monday. Drogueria Betances, LLC is accused of not reporting at least 655 orders for fentanyl and at least 113 orders for oxycodone from 2016 through June 2019. The orders were considered suspicious given in part their frequency and size, the department said. In addition, the company was ordered to improve its compliance program and report suspicious orders to the DEA, among other things. He added that Drogueria Betances never was accused of diverting controlled products to unauthorized people or entities.

Oct 17 (Reuters) - JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPM.N) said on Monday that Carlos Hernandez, its executive chair of investment and corporate banking, will retire at the end of the first quarter next year. Hernandez, 61, is a 36-year veteran of the company and has helped grow several segments of JPMorgan including its treasury services, investor services and global equities business, according to an internal memo that was confirmed by a company spokesperson. He will work closely with Jim Casey and Viswas Raghavan, co-heads of global investment banking, to ensure a smooth transition, according to the memo.
